[Origin: Reconciliation with "Incompleteness"]
In the dead of night in Shibuya in 2013, designer Shinya Sato was in his studio, revising the 17th sketch for a mobile phone case. Holding a coffee-stained sample in his hand, he recalled the "beauty of wabi-sabi" that his grandfather had taught him as a child—the eternity that resides in imperfection.
"Is there no other option than to pursue perfection in mobile phone accessories?"
He tore up the sketch and fused the Japanese traditional craft "Kintsugi" into a mobile phone case. He repairs cracks with gold powder, transforming flaws into unique medals. Velescraft (a coined word from the Latin "Veles," meaning guardian deity, and "Craft," meaning craft) was born with the meaning of protecting the imperfect beauty of everyday life with the spirit of a craftsman.
