In the dead of night in Shibuya, Tokyo, in 2013, designer Shinya Sato was revising his 17th smartphone case sketch. Coffee spilled accidentally, and just as he was about to throw away the ruined prototype, he remembered his grandfather's frequent saying about "the beauty of Wabi-Sabi"—the aesthetic of finding eternity within imperfection. Like the dawn breaking, this flash of inspiration led him to tear up the sketch and fuse the Japanese traditional craft of "Kintsugi" into his design. He repaired cracks with gold powder, transforming flaws into unique medallions. Velescraft (a portmanteau of the Latin "Veles," god of protection, and "Craft") was born from the philosophy of preserving the beauty of everyday imperfections with the spirit of a craftsman. Today, Velescraft extends from smartphone cases to tablets, laptops, earphones, and other peripherals—embracing all digital accessories. Each product embodies the philosophy of "Wabi-Sabi." Cracks in a laptop case become natural patterns with gold powder, evoking the poetry of time. Imperfections in the earphone wiring become unique artistic symbols, telling the story of life.
